My Movie Reviews

1917
I would add this to my all time favorite war movies such as A Bridge Too Far, Where Eagles Dare, Von Ryan’s Express, Force Ten From Navarone, Saving Private Ryan, to name a few. Though I regretfully did not see this in theaters, it was still one of those fantastic secret mission war movies. The two young lead actors were amazing and you cared so much for them throughout. As a viewer, you felt like you were also at their side experiencing their dangerous odyssey. The music played an essential character that captured the mood of nearly every scene. You won’t be disappointed.

ANGEL HAS FALLEN
A great supercharged action movie! This is the best movie in the Olympus Has Fallen & London Has Fallen series especially Nick Nolte's performance as the main characters father. I've been a long time fan of Nick Nolte since The Deep & 48 Hours. Gerard Butler and Nick Nolte were a great pair. Loved the fact that Nolte was living under the radar, conspiracy theorist and a complete recluse. Love those storylines like Taken 3 where the main character was set up and is on the run trying to prove their innocence.

BLENDED
I never thought most of Adam Sandler movies were intended for the big screen but what do I know since his movies usually hit number one on its first weekend. To me this is a movie one would see on TBS. I'm a bigger fan of Happy Gilmore.

DOCTOR SLEEP
If you are a big fan of The Shining like me this movie is a real treat! There is a lot of past references that ties this story together very well. To me the central characters resemble that of Luke & Rey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens in terms of an extrasensory power play of the Shine with the antagonist. Doctor Sleep is one of those movies that if you watch late at night it will pull you in and will want to see, as I did, what's around the next corner, as in the hallways of The Overlook.

IT: CHAPTER TWO
I love a good horror and I was looking so forward to this sequel based on the trailers but was pretty weak overall. Don't get me wrong but I enjoy unrated language but this movie had way too many F-bombs. I didn't end up caring for any of the characters including Jessica Chastain, John McAvoy and Bill Hader performances.

JOKER
Again, I would never expect that there would be even more stories to tell in this Batman franchise. This one takes the cake as it is definitely geared for adults. It also has some really creative surprise revelations for those familiar with the Batman backstory. No matter how Joaquin Phoenix comes across in interviews he makes up for in this menacing role. Be prepared that this story will take a very dark, shocking turn of events as one would expect from one of the most pop culture film characters.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD
Though I have not seen every Tarantino movie, this one was one of the lesser films I enjoyed but makes up for in the cast especially worth seeing Leo and Pitt on screen together pretty much throughout the movie. I love watching all actors interact with one another. Brad Pitt was no surprise as to why he won the Oscar for this particular role. Tarantino writes great scenes with pure tension. Fortunately, Luke Perry has a cameo with Leo. It was a little sad to see the turn of fictional events had the actual tragic characters survived that horrible Manson-led attack.

PEANUT BUTTER FALCON
Didn't know what to expect with this movie but I didn't enjoy it as much as everyone else. I found it slow but I really enjoyed watching the cast interact such as Shia LaBeouf, Dakota Johnson, Thomas Haden Church and Bruce Dern performances though.

PLAYING WITH FIRE
If you like Firehouse Dog you will like this movie. It's not a bad movie just geared primarily for kids but parents will enjoy it too. And it's also quite short in length. It's what this movie is to John Cena as Kindergarten Cop was to Arnold.

RAMBO: LAST BLOOD
A great Rambo movie! I still remember seeing First Blood back in 1982 which is the best in the whole series as is the case with most franchises. Last Blood is quite violent and not a very complicated plot but an interesting take involving a Mexican drug cartel and the dark world of human trafficking. A solid, great revenge story!

TERMINATOR: DARK FATE
Never knew a new story would literally rise from the ashes as these Terminator movies have proven time and again, no pun intended. This movie wastes no time for in the first fifteen minutes the action kicks in as one would expect from a Terminator movie. I really enjoyed the new antagonist Terminator so much more destructive and dangerous than the last one. It has some great action scenes including Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor kicking ass like Jamie Lee Curtis in the last Halloween movie!
